I was asked by the Club President to speak at the recent Charter Dinner hosted by Soroptimist International of Bolton to celebrate the Club’s 80th anniversary. The event was held in very fine surroundings at Brookfield in Westhoughton with the Mayor of Bolton and the President of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland in attendance. It was a pleasure to meet so many Soroptimists, including the President of SI South Lancashire Region, and inspiring to hear about the work they do in their local communities and also how they foster friendships with members across the globe.
Soroptimist International was founded in 1921, and is a volunteer movement with a network of over 75,000 club members in 122 countries. SI advocates for human rights and gender equality at the United Nations and its members work together to support women and girls in achieving their individual and collective potential.
